15th March - 3:55pm

It's the middle of March but I have just about finished the 40 page April issue of our Monthly Health Packs.  Only thing to add are a couple of photos and write-ups for two future HMHB events (a British Library visit on Friday 17th March, and a History/Health walk on Friday 31st March based around Elthorne Park in Islington.

I started the packs back in 2020 when the Covid pandemic hit us.  It came to the first lockdown and we needed to decide how HMHB was going to react, and what we could do for the local community.

There were plenty of organisations looking to get involved in food deliveries and medicine deliveries, but I wanted to do something different, to help people stay motivated and encouraged, especially knowing myself how depression and stress can overwhelm someone.

I cam up with the idea of a weekly health pack - focusing on Mind-set, Nutrition, Exercise, and Health - the first issue being just 10 pages.  That became 14, then 16, up to 20, and quite soon it was a weekly 26 page pack - that included a new recipe each week that I had not cooked from scratch before, quizzes, games, etc.  In all there were 50 issues - all of which are on our website in PDF form.

I then decided that I would continue with a monthly health pack - this now being 36 pages - with more news, some research, more recipes, and it was now going to over 250 email addresses, and I know other organisations were also forwarding on to their users.

It is now a 40 page publication - every month - and I am so proud of what I produce each month.
It still focuses on our four key elements, but there is much more to keep people entertained.  I try and make it interesting, and have learnt so much myself from research.

Do check out all previous weekly and monthly packs - there are details of content too - on our website.

21st April 2023 - 12:55pm - Friday: Courses have started with great feedback

HMHB's main focus is on our Mind-set Course, which focuses on Mind-set, Nutrition, Exercise, and Health - a fun, interactive, and pioneering course. Thankfully we have been able to get funding to enable us to do courses with a variety of different organisations, and four have already started. We have already had two days with Better Lives, delivering at King Henry's Walk in Islington, on the border with Hackney.  The picture above is with some of them, and we have had a blast so far. We have also started a course with Finsbury Park Job Centre, although I am not sure just how well they have promoted it to their users as, sadly, only one person came, even though they said they enjoyed the session. On alternate Fridays we are working with the Stuart Low Trust out of Jean Stokes Community Centre off the Caledonian Road.  We had around 15-20 people come along to our first week, and the general consensus was that they enjoyed it very much. Finally we did a fantastic event wit...

5th April 2023 - 3:15pm - Wednesday - New Monthly Health Pack for April is published

We published our latest Monthly Health Pack this week - for April 2023 - a massive 40 pages.  Yes, it takes a lot of hours and research, but I think it is a fabulous way to reach people and get our message across about trying to be healthy, as well as we all have a responsibility to look after our amazing bodies. April issue is jam packed full of info, news, photos, games, and more.  We have PDFs of all our packs on our website, and they can be downloaded from there. www.hmhb2016.org.uk The packs have been going for three years - ever since the first lockdown in 2020.  Wow, is it really that long ago?   We did 50 weekly issues, half of them being 26 pages.  We then moved to 36 page monthly, and that has increased to 40 pages - which we feel is just about the maximum we can achieve. Do check them out.  We focus on Mind-set, Nutrition, Exercise, and Health - but also include fun, quizzes, news, recipes, and other stuff.

Welcome to HMHB's new Blog - all about us and what we are doing

I will confess that the previous blog had not had an entry for around a year and a half.  Not because I did not want to, but I got out of the habit and then it just ran away from me. It was www.hmhb2016.blogspot.com So that is still available to look at for back history. However, I have been determined to start a new blog since the start of 2023 (you can see how long it has taken to get around to actually doing it!!!). So here we are. This blog is going to be talking about what I did that day (or the day before, depending on when I type the entry into it). I am not going to bother going into too much history here - you can see that on our website on our "About" page: www.hmhb2016.org.uk Do sign up for our blog to see how we are progressing.  2023 is going to be a busy year for Healthy Minds, Healthy Bods, and it would be terrific to have people following us, supporting us, and that gives us encouragement and focus.
